When we meet someone or see something new for the first time our brains create an automated programed response to decide if we like or dislike.

A great example of getting an expert was the Christchurch regional stand at the Meetings Expo recently in Auckland. The design and build company they hired created an outstanding environment using a concept which very rarely works at exhibitions well but, in this case worked  on so many levels. On the other hand I also saw stand graphics which had been put together by designers who do not specialise in, and do not understand exhibitions and conferences. To much information, to much clutter and important information along the ground which gets covered up and can't be seen.

You only get one chance at first impressions so yes, go find an expert to help you in what ever you are trying to achieve.
